by Nilay Patel, posted Sep 7th 2008 at 8:56PM Well, not really — the actual experiments that could result in potentially disastrous “micro black holes” won’t happen for another month (and probably won’t end anything except the lives of a few protons), but as rumored, CERN’s flipping the switch on the four billion dollar Large Hadron Collider this Wednesday to test the superconducting magnets that control the proton beams. After a clockwise test, they’ll send protons counter-clockwise, and after that — smashy time. Of course, there are still paranoid lawsuits pending to shut all this down, and we wouldn’t mind another rap video or two, but after two decades of work, it’s probably time to boot this thing up, death threats or no. Pocket-lint reviews the Motorola Z10 and writes, “Around the back of the phone you’ll find a 3.2MP camera, which will shoot stills and video. Video capture is MPEG4 H.264, at 30fps, up to QVGA, although in the phone the settings options refer to quality as low, medium or high and the sizes as small, medium or large. There are a whole host of settings you can choose from – perhaps too many – and in reality it will take some trial and error to get the best results.”

Finding ways to personalize your desk space is sometimes essential to your sanity. Especially when the entire office looks bland and horribly sterile. Well this little digital photo frame will keep your pictures flipping all day long. Luckily it’s also fairly small, so although it is one more thing to clutter up your desk it won’t actually take up that much room. The tiny little screen might make it difficult for some to see, but if you are just looking for a fairly cheap digital picture frame it should do the trick. by Chris Ziegler, posted Sep 7th 2008 at 5:57PM So the good news here is that Best Buy’s getting ready to open its arms to yet another HTC product that’s impossible to find by wandering into the brick-and-mortar store of the US wireless carrier of your choice; the bad news, though, is that it doesn’t seem to be the version we wanted. The Touch Diamond now has a Coming Soon page all its own on Best Buy’s site, which is just fantastic considering that neither AT&T nor T-Mobile have yet bothered to pick it up — but the problem is that the specifications make no mention of US 3G despite the fact that we know there’s just such a version floating around. When you’re feeling the need to cook up something, especially if you’ve never cooked it before, you’re likely going to need a timer. Now, the odds of only having to time one item are fairly slim. Actually you might need to time several things. That is unless you have the scheme set up and down to an art. However, trying to create something new, you’re unfamiliar with it and likely will want to make sure it’s timed correctly. Well this cute little timer has been designed with the idea that we do indeed cook more than one thing at once. (Read the full post about ‘Double Timer lets you time two things at once’…)
