Swarovski-studded LG 47LB90FD LCD HDTV makes grand entrance

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

by Darren Murph, posted Jun 11th 2008 at 1:48PM
LG’s Xcanvas line of LCD HDTVs look mighty sexy as-is, in our humble opinion, but we’re certain a little extravagance can’t hurt. The 1080p 47LB90FD has a surprisingly sparkly base that’s doused in Swarovski crystals, and as you can likely glean, it’ll only be released in limited quantities. Sadly, the nitty-gritty details on this thing are few and far between, but when you’re talking about a ritzy ₩3.3 million ($3,204) HDTV, who needs a contrast ratio?

JVC Victor rolls out new Alneo XA-V series DAPs for Japan

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

by Donald Melanson, posted Jun 11th 2008 at 8:54PM It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen one of JVC Victor’s Aleno players, but it looks like the line is still going strong in Japan, where the company has just announced three new XA-V series models. Those include the XA-V80, XA-V40, and XA-V20, which come loaded with 8GB, 4GB, and 2GB of storage, respectively, and include a 2-inch, 220 x 176 display, JVC’s proprietary “K2″ audio-enhancing technology, and a promised 25 hours or so of battery life (or six doing video), among other fairly standard specs. Look for these to run you between $180 and $250 depending on the capacity, with each set to be available in your choice of blue, black, white or red when they land in early July.

Voodoo Omen gets examined from the inside

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

by Donald Melanson, posted Jun 11th 2008 at 3:14PM We’ve already seen plenty of official pics and videos of Voodoo’s pricey new Omen desktop, but if you’ve been hankering to know what’s going on under its shiny hood you can now get your fix courtesy of Pocket-lint, which has cracked one open and snapped a couple of pics. Not surprisingly, the Omen’s insides are decided more cluttered than its minimalist exterior, not to mention considerably more brightly colored. Hit up the link below for a closer look.

Barely believable Nikon D10 images surface

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

by Darren Murph, posted Jun 11th 2008 at 10:19AM
You know the drill: open wide and ingest some salt before proceeding further. All done? Alright. The above image is clearly pretending / hoping / wanting to be the supposedly forthcoming Nikon D10, but we’re not so sure what we’re seeing is the real deal. Granted, rumors have been flying that a so-called mid-range full frame DSLR would be surfacing from the company, but even if said unicorn is eventually dubbed the D10, will it really look like this? What say you, eagle-eyed readers?

2010 Ford Fusion features 8.5-inch touchscreen

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

by Nilay Patel, posted Jun 11th 2008 at 4:06PMWe already saw a demo of the next-gen version of Ford Sync, but it looks like what we saw was just a taste — our friends over at Autoblog scored some shots of the 2010 Ford Fusion’s interior, and it features a monster 8.5-inch touchscreen, which will also apparently make it into the 2009 F-150 pickup truck. It’s not clear how much the system will control or how much it’ll cost, but you can bet it’s not nearly as sweet as the 1979 Atari Riviera. Hit the read link for a couple full size shots.

Google honcho Sergey Brin plans first-ever private trip to the ISS

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

by Joshua Topolsky, posted Jun 11th 2008 at 12:45PM
Google co-founder Sergey Brin is about to join an extremely short list of space tourists, according to reports. The search engine-kingpin just dropped a $5 million dollar “investment” on the company Space Adventures, which all but guarantees him a seat on the outfit’s next flight in 2011. The trip aboard the Russian Soyuz rocket will take Brin to the ISS in the first-ever private flight to the station (Ubuntu head Mark Shuttleworth has made the trip, though not on a private mission). The company stresses that the ride will be less about tourism and more about commercial exploration, with passengers bringing aboard experiments and taking part in flight operations. Now the only riddle left to solve is whether the last Cylon is Brin or Bezos.

Punch Mug For Inter-Office Rumbles

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

There is a common misconception about corporate interaction. It’s not always “all business”. Some of the most hardcore mofos I’ve ever known were members of the corporate elite. Want to make a snide comment about their quarterly profits? How about a punch to the jaw instead, fool?!

And while corporate honchos might not walk around with big metal chains and sharpened shanks as their weapon of choice, they certainly find ways to hold their own in the inter-office rumbles. This Punch mug not only delivers the kick of caffeine you so desperately need, but also provides an excellent alternative to brass knuckles for any snotty PR employees.

Sure, it might look like just another fragile ceramic drinking apparatus, but the specially designed handle provides a truly epic amount of grip and force behind your best left hook. The Punch is designed in both white and silver colors.

We have to say, the silver version just looks more hardcore. You should only have to use the Punch Mug once before every other bad mouthing white-collar gets the hint. You are not a coffee drinker to be messed with.

Superhero Wetsuits Make You A Target For Beach Bullies

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Nerds aren’t typically known for being great surfers. In fact, it’s a rare occurrence for most us nerds to even be seen on a beach. Our pasty skin just burns too easily. Maybe that’s why we should be wearing these wetsuits, even if we don’t go in the water. Just to cover up our precious skin.

If your thick glasses and rib-poking skinniness wasn’t enough fuel to spur the fire under the beach bullies butts, wearing one of these Superhero Wetsuits will surely do the trick. Resembling the superhero pajamas we use to wear as kids, these wetsuits allow you to display your comic book fanaticism, even when your not sitting around in your parents basement reading the adventures themselves.

Wetwear Custom Wetsuits has produced an assortment of Superhero Wetsuits for all of our geeky pleasure. They have made versions for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Dr. X, Tempest and more. Though they have a disclaimer on their site warning that even though there has been many requests for Spiderman, the webbing of the suit doesn’t lend itself very well to wetsuit composition.

You can have your own wetsuit made for you from Wetwear at varying prices, depending on the design. So grab your Spiderman branded sunblock and your Batman boogie board and prepare for one very geeky trip to the shore.
