Hutchison / 3 snags iPhone for Hong Kong and Macau

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

by Ryan Block, posted May 31st 2008 at 12:46AMLooks like Hutchison (aka 3) snagged the iphone for distribution in Hong Kong and Macau, which will be coming “later this year.” Like the rest, this was another one liner un-announcement with no real info, but you probably wouldn’t want to anger Steve before WWDC. Besides, in Hong Kong 3 doesn’t sell anything but 3G phones — so put that in your iPipe and smoke it.

Outdoor Gnome Bowling

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

And I thought that the best kind of bowling were the ones confined to an air-conditioned place with rows of lanes in a comfortable setting, and not in your garden. With the Outdoor Gnome Bowling, you can take out your frustration at home on half a dozen of these gnomes if the missus has slapped a restraining order on you from heading down to the alley to spend time with your buddies.

Possibly the best garden game invented since ‘leap through the lawn sprinkler’, Outdoor Gnome Bowling is about as much fun as you can have short of finding some real gnomes to bowl over. The set comes with six ten inch, nervous looking fellas and two lightweight (so they won’t crush small children) bowling balls. Simply rack ‘em up and strike fear into the hearts of gnomes everywhere. If you die laughing it’s not our fault.

The entire set will retail for £29.99 which is pretty pricey for some slapstick fun if you ask me. I’d rather save that money towards a Wii and play Wii Bowling instead.

Digital Shopping List/Recorder makes shopping h-itech and a lot easier

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Those grocery lists. We have to write them every week. Milk, eggs, butter, yada yada yada. But what if you could just speak into a mic and have something print out for you? That way you can make your list while on the fly without having the fridge open or sticking your head into the pantry and then writing stuff down. I hate writing stuff down! But with the Electronic SmartShopper Grocery List Maker, you have one less list to write. It really couldn’t be easier.

With it’s voice recognition system, the shopper just records what they want the the Smartshopper not only prints out a complete list, but even organizes it by sections of the store. This makes shopping quicker and more efficient. And the shopper remember something on the way, they just hit record again and the SmartShopper inserts the list and reorganizes it before printing a new copy.

Now, granted, we reported on this back in January of 2007. But I’m betting that year has brought a few ”.x” improvements to the voice recognition and organizing software which makes this worth dropping $150 on just to see how well it works. Anything that makes the daily chores easier is worth mentioning more than once, after all.
