Free Digital Photography Software You Need

<!– –>

Pretty much every digital photographer uses some form of at least basic digital photo software to edit and enhance their pictures.

These programs, even the simple ones, allow us to work wonders on digital photos that might otherwise be consigned to digital nothingness via the "delete" button.

But with so many programs to choose from which one is best for your needs, and how do you determine this without actually laying out some big bucks?

The answer is simple, unless you really need or want something ultra sophisticated such as Adobe Photoshop, try out the free ones readily available online.

This article provides details on some of the most popular digital photography software to get you started.

Here's one of the best free digital graphics programs around, "Irfanview", and another I've used with good results, "Serif" digital photo imaging software, to get you started.

If you want to sample more free imaging programs search around, and use Google, and you'll soon have more than you can imagine. When you find one you really like you may decide to spend a few bucks on the full blown version.

Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you'll find a picture somewhere.

Vonage to resell Covad DSL, call it Vonage Broadband

Friday, May 9th, 2008

by Darren Murph, posted May 8th 2008 at 11:33AM
After a good bit of hand-shaking and check-writing to close out last year, Vonage has managed to remain out of the press for the majority of 2008. Now, however, the firm is sneaking back out from its cocoon in order to announce a partnership with Covad Communications. In essence, it seems that Vonage has inked an agreement to resell broadband packages using Covad’s nationwide DSL network. Jeffrey Citron, Chairman, Chief Strategist, and Interim CEO even went so far as to say that the newly coined Vonage Broadband would enable the firm to “respond to the demand it hears from customers who prefer the Vonage brand.” Really? You’ve got folks who prefer the Vonage brand? Maybe we missed the comeback.

China Mobile locks down Everest; serves snacks

Friday, May 9th, 2008

If a torch climbs a mountain and no one is there to live blog it, or webcam it, or email home about it; did it really happen?  China Mobile insures all these things are possible thanks to their business office and internet cafe at 17,000 feet above sea level at the base of Mount Qomolangma.  Oddly or fantastically (your choice), users can pay bills, SIM change services and watch free films, in addition to other “new business experiences.” Because after a good climb to base camp, I usually get a hankering for a SIM change and review of my monthly texting charges.

China Mobile aims to support the torch relay teams and journalists communication efforts for the torches trip up the mountain.  China Mobile will not get honors for the first call or text from the top of Everest, though; those props belong to this guy.

I link to the People’s Daily Online below which, in an attempt to let you not forget that China is a communist country:” …China Mobile has a strict management of Internet lines and accounts.” You’ve been warned, hackers.

Gear4 - Portable iPod Speaker & Dock

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Gear4 has presented their new audio product made for iPods, that combines a portable speaker and dock in one.

To sum it up: there is a satellite speaker that can be detached from the dock itself, so you can take it anywhere you want. Obviously, the portable speaker isn’t as good as the dock in terms of sound quality, because you’re missing a 20W subwoofer if you use the lonely speaker.

The Gear4 Duo ipod Speaker is priced at 150, and has a release date set for tomorrow, 8 May.

The front section on its own is 18W, and has a flip-out dock connector that makes the whole speaker section flat for easy transport.

Oris BC4 Flight Timer Keeps Jet-Setters Up To Snuff

Friday, May 9th, 2008

I don’t care whether you’re a pilot or a frequent flier, there are still ways for the good old time zones to wipe your body clock clean of any past rhythms. Taking a trip from The U.S. to the U.K. is only fun once you’ve got your sleeping patterns back under control. At least enough so you can get a taste of both the night life, and the day light festivities.

The BC4 Flight Timer from Oris is a awesome way to keep tabs on up to three time zones at once right from your wrist. The BC4 features an automatic movement with the second timezone subdial, while the extra-large crown can adjust the third dial for yet another time zone.

One of the best things about the BC4 is its ability to both look awesome and be productive simultaneously. The leather wrist band and expertly designed face make the watch appear to be a unique, high-end time piece, rather than a tool for the jet-setting aviator. Looking good and feeling good are easy with the form and function of the Flight Timer.

But awesome style and expert features doesn’t come cheap. The Oris BC4 Flight Timer will set you back $3,300, so we’re thinking the best candidate for such a watch is a frequent flying CEO or business man. Someone who’s comfortable enough financially to fly first class on a regular basis, but who also needs to mind his sleeping patterns for those early morning meetings.
