Samsung Armani Review - Pocket-lint

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Pocket-lint reviews the Samsung Armani and writes, “Samsung makes up for this boo-boo with a capable 3-megapixel camera. Admittedly there’s no auto-focus or flash but it nevertheless takes solid snaps with strong colour reproduction. Video capture is also quite slick, shooting in two resolutions: 320 x 240 pixels at 30fps and 352 x 288 pixels at 15fps.”

Rancilio’s Silvia espresso machine gets hacked via the Arduino and Wii nunchuk

If you’re both a coffee- and gadget-freak, this project by DIY’er Tim Hirzel will probably be a notably inspiring hack. By combining a fancy-pants Rancilio Silvia espresso machine, the multi-purpose Arduino micro-controller, a Wii nunchuk, and some seriously high-level hacking, Tim has created a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. The typically straight-up espresso maker is now controlled electronically, allowing integration of a calendar, sleep timer, wake-up alarm, and temperature regulation. The system also allows a user to time its functions (to get that perfect cup of espresso), and the nunchuk can be used to alter settings on the unit. Be sure and take a look at the video after the break to see this mod in action.

[Thanks, Russ]

GPS Tracker Defence

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

If you are the paranoid type who worry that someone always has their eye on you then this Anti GPS Tracker is for you. What this anti tracker does is block all GPS signals for a 5 meter radius making it impossible for a tracker to track where you are and send those details on to others. The Anti GPS tracker plugs in to your cigar lighter and is powered from the 12V supply.

One thing to note is that by blocking those “tracking” you, there will be the problem that your navigation device will also not work… so you really need to weigh up your paranoia with being practical here. It still is a fairly cool gadget though and could keep you protected should you find your self in a situation like that.

The Anti GPS Tracker costs £149 and is available at the link below.
