Logitech, Last.fm partner to offer free personalized radio

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

A recent partnership between Logitech and Last.fm will allow users to enjoy free personalized radio. The radio can be listened to using select internet radio receivers from Logitech to include the Squeezebox and Transporter. Users will be able to have an on-the-go experience with Last.fm, taking the PC out of the picture.

Sadly as of now the support is limited to just the Squeezebox and Transporter, however more support is expected to come via a “software update due before the end of the year.” Users will then be able to enjoy their personalized Last.fm radio stations using a wider selection of Logitech’s boxes.

Ultra-thin Digital Voice Recorder

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

When it comes to portable electronic gadgets, thin is always in. We constantly want to see our electronics becoming lighter, smaller and thinner so that we can have the justification to buy a shiny new toy. Yes, new features are always nice - but what we really want is a gadget so thin it will blow the mind of anyone who even gets a passing glance of it.

This credit card size digital voice recorder measures in at just 6.5 millimeters in thickness and features 1GB of built-in storage, a flip-out USB connector, and flush-mounted controls. It can also be used as a MP3 player and USB flash drive. It records in high quality WAV file format and files can be easily copied or deleted just as with a standard USB storage device. Convenient and highly portable design mean you can take it with you just about anywhere with minimum hassle.

Brickhouse Security’s two-way micro headset may never leave your ear canal

Unlike Brickhouse Security, we won’t go so far as to call this thing “invisible,” but when placed in the ear, all but the most eagle-eyed among us are likely to overlook it. The elaborately named Secret Service Invisible 2-Way Micro Headset comes with an easily hidden wireless transmitter that plugs into any mobile with a 2.5-millimeter audio output. Once rigged up, the wearer can have someone listen in on conversation in a room while also receiving input from said listener. Unfortunately, this likely Jack Bauer-approved gizmo demands a practically ludicrous $649.95, so it looks like we’ll be sticking to brute force and walkie talkies here. Check out a demo video after the jump — but be sure and kill the speakers first, alright?

MacBook Pro rumored to be getting multi-touch trackpad, sun also rumored to rise tomorrow

Filed under: Laptops While you’d be hard pressed to come up with a safer Apple rumor to predict, it seems that AppleInsider has it on supposedly reliable word that the company will in fact be extending multi-touch trackpads to its top-end MacBook Pro line, and in the “next several weeks,” no less. What’s more, those same sources say that the new MacBook Pros (both 15-inch and 17-inch models) were originally supposed to make their debut “at or around Macworld Expo,” but they got pushed back after Apple was forced to put additional resources and personnel on the MacBook Air in order to get it out in time. No firm word on what other specs we can look forward to, unfortunately although AppleInsider speculates that the laptops could be standardized around Intel’s 2.5GHz and 2.6GHz mobile Penryn processors, which should offer some slight battery improvements in addition to a boost in performance.

Yamada CD to MP3 Converter and Player - rip, burn, save and watch

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

This Yamada CD to MP3 Converter and Player is a totally unremarkable DVD and CD player and auto-ripper, save for the fact that it’s a measly £34.99, which makes it a darn site cheaper than a lot of other rip and play solutions out there. And it’s got a USB slot and memory card reader in the front panel. And it’s a DivX player too. Whizzo!

Feature-packed DVD player • Back up your music collection to an external hard drive • Convert a CD directly to a USB MP3 player • USB and card reader in the front panel • Card reader (MS, MMC,SD) • MPEG4 video playback (DivX) • Progressive scan for clearer picture quality • Dolby digital • PAL/NTSC signal output • SCART, S-video, progressive scan via YCbCr, 5.1 analogue or coaxial digital • Compatible with DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW
